worth, worthy

(1) worth 表示“值”、“相等于…的價(jià)值”。表示“價(jià)值…”的意思時(shí)，常與表示錢方面的名詞連用;表示“值得…”的意思時(shí)，常與名詞連用。它一般用作表語(yǔ)。常用下面兩種句型：sth+ be worth + 動(dòng)名詞或名詞，It + be worth (one’s) while + 動(dòng)名詞(或不定式)。如：

The city is well worth visiting twice. 這個(gè)城市很值得再去看看。

=It is worthwhile to visit/visiting the city twice.

=It is worth our while to visit the city twice.

=It is worthwhile for us to visit the city twice.

What you have done is worth praise. 你所做的修復(fù)表?yè)P(yáng)。

(2)worthy 作“值得”、“應(yīng)……的”、“足以……”解。用作形容詞時(shí)，表示對(duì)某事有資格或合適的意思，通常作表語(yǔ)用。后接of短語(yǔ)或不定式。它還可表示可尊敬的，有價(jià)值的等到意思，用作定語(yǔ)。如：

She is worthy of praise.= She is worth praise. 她值得表?yè)P(yáng)。

The science fiction is very worthy of being read.

=The science fiction is very worthy to be read. 這篇科技故事值得一讀。

=The science fiction is well worth reading.

=It is worthwhile reading the science fiction.

=It is worthwhile to read the science fiction.
